Winter Xtreme, the highlight each winter, is held at Timberlee Christian Camp in East Troy, Wisconsin. Some of the winter activities include the toboggan chute, a tube hill, ice skating, cross country skiing, broom ball, horseback riding, a climbing wall and more. There are also fun indoor activities such as the game room, leather shop, and science center. There is always a great band and speaker at each camp to help the youth grow spiritually. Be sure to sign up early because the spots fill up quickly.
2013 Middle School Winter Xtreme
Held on January 18-20 at Timberlee Christian Camp.
We had 13 Middle School youth attend Winter Xtreme this year. Jonathan Mckee was the speaker and his theme was Refine. He encouraged us to be selfless. Examples he gave included: when you are going to the car or van with friends, rather than calling out "shotgun" (which means that you get the front passenger seat), say "shotgun, for you." Or when there's a cake or pizza, we should let others have the largest piece instead of always taking the best for ourselves. It's very simple. The teaching is centered on Philippians Chapter 2.
Also this year, the broomball team played in the semi-finals! The game was very exciting and the best that a First Baptist team has ever done.
2013 High School Winter Xtreme
Held on February 15–17 at Timberlee Christian Camp.
There were 19 High School youth who travelled to Timberlee in Wisconsin. Mark Lynch was a great speaker who connected well with this generation.
The band was called The Ineloquent and led us into the presence of God through their music. One of their songs had our whole group shouting "I Can't Do Anything!" Another song, "Reign in Us" by Starfield, reminded us to be refined by letting the Lord live within us.
We had the blessing of two foreign exchange students going with us this year and that was a lot of fun seeing them do all of the fun winter activities and also checking out everything at the science center! We had many long talks about the Lord and were blessed with an extremely wonderful time!
