The following events are listed as a service by First Baptist Church at Savoy.
Empty Tomb Work-a-Thon
Saturday, March 3 from 8 am – 12 noon
This event will have volunteers from churches all over the Champaign County area helping to assemble "clothes cupboards" for children in need. The goal is to have 1,500 workers to put together 500 of these cupboards at sites across Champaign-Urbana that morning!
Organization and preparation is already well underway. Fabricators and painters are still being identified, even as some have begun preparing the component parts for the clothes cupboards.
Volunteers are asked to register now and then obtain pledges to support their labor that day for the following activities:
- Help assemble clothes cupboards the morning of March 3;
- Fabricate (skilled finish carpenters only) or paint parts ahead of time;
- Serve on other helping teams, such as hospitality, prayer, check-in, safety, furniture delivery, worksite setup, organization, or clean-up on March 3;
- Donors are encouraged to sponsor one or more volunteers with a money donation per hour.
Parents regularly contact empty tomb for help with a place to store their children's clothes. Providing these cupboards for local children, where they can store schoolbooks as well as clothes, can bring a little more order and security into their lives, and help with their feelings of self-worth.

United Marriage Encounter Weekend
April 20-22, 2012

Cost: Registration fee is $80/couple

The United Marriage Encounter Weekend combines Christian values, sound psychology, and a practical method to improve communication between husband and wife. It is for ALL couples, ALL ages, married at least a year who have a good marriage and want to make it better.
Weekends are especially recommended for:
- The couple who would like to improve or deepen their communication;
- The couple who have a solid marriage but would like more romance, zip, and sparkle;
- The busy couple who seldom have time for each other;
- The couple who believe they don't need it!
