About Missions
First Baptist Church, and American Baptists in general, have always been characterized as a people of mission. Mission is our reason for existence. We know that to be faithful to our call to the Gospel we must be faithful to our call to do mission. Central to our calling to do mission is Jesus' promise in Acts 1:8:
But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.
Our Mission Statement reinforces our commitment by encouraging us to proclaim the Good News in Champaign County and beyond so people will discover relationship, meaning, hope and live as followers of Jesus Christ.
