About Our Worship
At FBC, we offer three worship opportunities on Sunday mornings in addition to our 9:30 Sunday School Hour for all ages.
At 8:15 and 10:45 am we offer a Contemporary Worship Service in our carpeted gym, referred to as The Crossing. You can read more about this service below.
At 10:45 am we offer a Sanctuary Worship in our beautiful sanctuary which features a 35-rank pipe organ that has been with our church since 1925. Read more about our sanctuary worship service below.

Sunday School Hour
Fifth Sunday Family Gatherings
In any month where a “fifth Sunday” occurs, we typically will have a combined worship service. These services are special celebrations where all our church attenders can worship together in one service.
Worship Service Descriptions
The contemporary service is designed to offer worship in a relaxed atmosphere, praising God through music. The goal is to communicate the message in a way that is understandable regardless of religious upbringing.
A number of Worship Ministry Teams have been formed to provide support to the contemporary services. If you have had experience on worship teams, in bands, with vocals, drums, bass, guitars, piano, please contact Pastor Chris Chambers or call the FBC office at (217) 352-2240 about joining our Worship Teams. We are also very interested in horn players such as trumpet, saxophone, or trombone players.
The style of the music is a blend of traditional hymns along with meaningful choruses and works from the great classical/sacred composers. Congregational singing, the FBC Worship Choir, use of strings, brass, and percussion instruments as needed, and the use of the 35-rank pipe organ, all enhance the worship experience.
Many weeks you will hear, from the pulpit, an FBC attendee tell about how God is working in and through his or her life. These real life Faith Stories are presented as testimony to what is being taught in the services. The Sanctuary Worship experience is not only intended to facilitate worship for you during the service time but also to inspire and prepare you in your daily worship throughout the coming week.
This service is attended by people of all ages. Dress varies; business or casual attire, including jeans, is common and welcome.
