Our Mission, Core Values and Core Beliefs
Our Mission:
We are a multi-generational, biblically-based church reaching and equipping people to live a missional, Christ-centered life together.
Our Core Values: What Is Important To Us, Our DNA
- Focusing on Biblical truth and values;
- Living out our faith;
- Developing community (being caring, friendly, welcoming, accepting, grace-giving);
- Making a mission impact;
- Being a multi-generational congregation;
- Investing in our future - practicing responsible stewardship.
Our Core Beliefs:
Non-negotiable characteristics we want to see develop in a Christ follower's life.
- LOVING GOD — Worshiping God as a lifestyle. Living the great commandment (Mark 12:30): “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”
- LOVING OTHERS — Living the great commandment, part two (Mark 12:31): “love your neighbor as yourself.” Being patient and kind toward others; not jealous, boastful, proud or rude; not demanding our way or being irritable; keeping no record of wrongs; not reveling when others grovel; loving the truth; never giving up on others (1 Corinthians 13:4-6).
- MATURING IN CHRIST-LIKE CHARACTER — Eager to learn. Evidence of the Holy Spirit’s control: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self–control (Galatians 5:22-23).
- GROWING IN CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY — Recognizing that we need others to mature in our faith. Committed to Christian fellowship. Willing to share with others, eager to learn from them. Being vulnerable, transparent, humble.
- PRACTICING PRAYER — Regularly, talking with God and listening to God, with the goal of obeying God. Expressing adoration, praise and gratitude to him. Developing a pray-first response, whenever there is concern, joy, need for guidance, feeling overwhelmed, etc.
- APPLYING BIBLICAL TRUTH TO DAILY LIVING — Regularly reading the Bible; taking the next step to study the Bible. Involving oneself in Bible study with others. The goal is always applying truth learned to daily living.
- SERVING SACRIFICIALLY — Dying daily to our own agenda and not thinking first of ourselves. Experiencing many little “deaths” (daily crucifixion) of going beyond ourselves to serve others in Jesus’ name (Matthew 16:24).
- BEING INTENTIONAL ABOUT STEWARDSHIP — Acting responsibly with God’s gifts of time, money, and abilities. Moving away from cultural norms of serving ourselves, to managing our resources to advance God’s kingdom.
- PRACTICING EVANGELISM, INVOLVING ONESELF IN MISSIONS— Building relationships with others; inviting others to a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. Investing time and resources in mission endeavors.
- BALANCING OUR LIVES — Making Christ the center of our lives, not just a part of our lives. Steering away from the common practice of being involved in too many things. Finding a healthy rhythm of prayer, study, work and play.
