Well this is the first post of the new youth pastor blog. But the Intern is the one who gets the first post.
First off I have to say they Summer Slam has been pretty fun. There is nothing like a good game of scatterball. Although I will state that drinking vinegar is not nearly as fun as drinking honey. I am really excited about all of the high school leaders too. They have really stepped up to the challenged and I think they have a fun time with it too.
And the Fuel Bible Study has been amazing. We are doing what is called an exegetical study of Corinthians. Exegetical is a big word that means leading out the meaning of the text instead of applying a meaning from our own current age. So that requires a lot of study for the text and making sure the context of the book is understood.
This current moment at 11:37 on Friday the 24th I am sitting at home enjoying music and wondering why soap operas are on TV at all. The stories are kinda weak and not very enthralling. The Who is a really good band. "Behind Blue Eyes" is a favorite of mine. I think it was redone but not as good as the first.
Something I have been reading these past few weeks was a book by Philip Yancy titled what is so amazing about Grace. Now that is an interesting book. He basically discusses grace and the effects it can have on people. There are many times in my life where I have done something that in no way called intelligent and to be forgiven of those mistakes is incredible. The idea that my mistakes don’t play a permanent role in the future is incredible to me. Then combine that to the fact that God has decided that I, myself, every human being in the world, is more important to Him then their mistakes is incredible. God has seen fit to make a plan of redemption for the whole world. He enabled all of us to be given and not have our sins counting against us. And that is a simple fact which blows my mind. So john 3:16 is a verse I have heard so often but when it finally gets done to the fact that God did it to save us all.
If you have some free time think about this verse in relation to your life.
John 3:16 (New Living Translation)
New Living Translation (NLT) 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Think about that this verse applies directly to your life. Think about how much we all don't deserve this because we never obeyed the rules or lived completely as God wanted us to.
That is all for this update.
End communication.
