Honduras Experience

It’s funny how fast my life wants to get back to being normal after such a life changing missions trip! I took our high school youth on a missions trip to Honduras at the end of June. One part of normal that I do like a lot is that my stomach. I have a picture in my mind that I hope to never forget. That’s the picture of the orphan children singing songs with all of their might even though they’re hot and they don’t have a lot in their lives. They had such joy in little things. I remember singing the song “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” and in my heart I was committing myself to the Lord again as I was watching them sing! I was thinking of the great example that these children are for me to just follow Jesus with everything they have. The problem is that I have so much in my life that I act like I can make it on my own. The real fact is that I need Jesus just as much as those children who have so little in life! It has been such a great experience getting involved with helping children who have no parents. I know what I do is so little, but it can make a difference.
