PRESCHOOL NEWS
Open Registration is going on now and there are only a few openings available in the 4-year-old classes. First come, first serve basis. Registration forms are provided on the menu above under Preschool Forms. The 2008-2009 calendar has been posted above under School Calendar.

The “Family Dance Party” was a great success with lots of children and parents enjoying their time with Kate Kuper. We even made it into the Savoy Star! Pictures have been placed in the photo album. See link above.

ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL
For the 2007-2008 school year, we will offer morning classes from 9:00 – 11:30 am and afternoon classes from 12:30 – 3:00 pm for children 2 to 5 years of age. Rates for the 2008–2009 school year are: Registration fee: $55 for the first child and $35 for the second child. Tuition rate: 2-day (Tues/Thurs) $95/month; 3-day (Mon/Wed/Fri) $130/month; 5-day $188/month.

Our Preschool has been in existence since 1983 and has grown from a group of mothers enjoying a morning playgroup to an integral part of the ministry of First Baptist Church. The school offers small classroom size so that student/teacher ratio is at its best. The classes all offer typical preschool activities of art, singing, fingerplays, and dramatic play with the 4 to 5 year olds stressing kindergarten preparation. The school also integrates Christian stories, fingerplays and songs throughout its weekly activities.

Throughout the year the children participant in a variety of local field trips which include Savoy Fire Station, Curtis Orchard, Champaign Public library, Orpheum Children's Museum, and more. The parents assist with the transportation for these trips and are welcome in the classes as they wish. To help make the winter month go a little faster the school also adds in some “fun days” like Pajama Day, Clifford Day, and Pizza Day.

The student body has included not only children from the Savoy area but from White Heath, Mahomet, Fithian, Monticello as well as Champaign/Urbana. As the Savoy area has grown over these past years, the school has continued to receive more and more inquiries for spaces for children and has often had to maintain a waiting list. The Church and the School Board finally decided that the school would open up an afternoon session to try to meet this growing need.

The school also tries to be an active part of the communitiess by having several service projects throughout the school year: Christmas toy donations to local ministries for needy families, Thanksgiving dinners donated from each class for distribution by the Salvation Army, hosting Kid's Zone at Walmart Fun Fest for children's cancer research.
