Health & Wellness
On the fourth Sunday of each month, our Parish Nurse is available following all services to take blood pressures. It only takes a few moments and could make a difference in your staying healthy. A card will be provided to log your readings each month. We also participant in the Vial of Life program. The Vial of Life is designed to speak for you when you can't speak for yourself. The vial contains important medical information that can assist emergency personnel in administering the proper medical treatment. The Parish Nurse area has medical equipment that is available for your use on a temporary basis. The following is a list of equipment currently available:
- Shower benches
- Canes
- Crutches
- Walkers
- Elevated toilet seat with handles
- Magnifying light with stand
- Wheelchairs
We also accept any equipment you may have that you’d like to donate to the church. Call the church office at 352-2240 for more information.

Disability Ministry
We all benefit when people with disabilities are valued in our churches. "Imagine walking down the street and hearing a child say to his mother: "Mom, why does he walk that way?" Or, "Why is she in that wheelchair?" Or, "Why does he have that cane?" People with disabilities don't have to imagine such questions. They hear them regularly—at least those who can hear."

At FBC we are working to raise awareness of people struggling with disabilities. One of our members recently attended a Joni and Friends Family Retreat Camp and returned full of passion for those with disabilities. Now she is helping in our Awana program to enable disabled children to attend with their siblings. She finds this ministry to be an incredibly rewarding experience. Read her own account:
He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
"Each Wednesday night I have the privilege of being a buddy to a disabled child and she ministers to me by leading my soul to a wonderful stillness (in the midst of forty-five 3 – 5 year olds). As I watch her observe, process, and struggle to engage in the activities of being a Cubbie at Awana, my heart is warmed and I know God is using my hands, my voice, and my lap. Because I am there, she can come. And, because she can come, her older sister can come.
|
| "When she says my name and gives me a hug seeing me at the door when she arrives — my eyes tear up. When she finally picks up that crayon and slowly draws circles (apples) in the tree — my heart leaps. AND, when she opened her arms and sticks each one through that blue Cubbie vest and looks up at me with big eyes and a smile from ear to ear — He restores my soul. God restores my soul through this special little Angel he sent to our doors. |
|
"Search your heart. Join me beside the still waters and let your soul be restored as you partner with a child with a disability at First Baptist Church. Be a part of our budding ministry to the disabled of all ages. And, please, cover this ministry with your prayers."

The LINC Team
The First Call for Help
LINC stands for Loving, Interested, Nurturing, and Caring, and is the first stop in the “triage” process at First Baptist Church. |
 |
The LINC Team consists of members who are familiar with all other help-oriented groups at the church, such as Share the Care, Angel Corp, Deaconesses, etc. LINC screens the needs so that individuals requesting assistance can immediately be directed to the appropriate source.
If you have a need, don’t hesitate to ask. Our volunteers want to give of themselves for your needs. They are available to serve! If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please contact the church office: 352-2240.

Angel Corps
Currently we have 27 men and women in the Angel Corps serving the congregation. We have been called to do a variety of repairs and chores for those who are unable to find help or can’t do the tasks themselves.
|

|
Our primary target are those senior single ladies or men or shut-ins who find it difficult to obtain help to do little things like: replace ceiling light bulbs, repair storm doors, fix toilets, fix light fixtures and electrical plugs, replace cabinet handles, paint small areas.
We can also provide transportation, do some outside work on an emergency basis, put up grab bars, check smoke detectors, put up window shades, put in shelves, and do some small jobs around the church. We can give advice on more complicated repairs but will not replace contractors. Contact us if you need help.
|
Share the Care
God has enabled us to reach out and assist a number of people. We can help by providing food for a family; visiting a family and assisting with their needs; provide transportation for a person needing ongoing medical treatment and providing overnight respite at the hospital so the family can get some much needed rest.
